My creative journey finds its roots in my mother, a talented seamstress and artist hailing from Tokyo. From a young age, I’ve explored various artistic expressions, honing skills in sewing and drawing since the age of 13.

Over the years, my artistic pursuits evolved—from oil painting landscapes and still life in my 30s to embracing a more contemporary style with an Asian influence upon retiring at 60.

Biography

My creative journey finds its roots in my mother, a talented seamstress and artist hailing from Tokyo. From a young age, I've explored various artistic expressions, honing skills in sewing and drawing since the age of 13. Over the years, my artistic pursuits evolved—from oil painting landscapes and still life in my 30s to embracing a more contemporary style with an Asian influence upon retiring at 60.

A significant shift in my life led me from Texas to care for my sister, Tina, who battled Lewis Body dementia and Parkinson's disease following her daughter's passing. Moving in with my daughter's family during this time was a pivotal decision, fostering bonds and creating cherished memories. Despite the challenges, being close to family proved invaluable, inspiring and astounding me with their creative talents.

Quilting became a shared passion between my daughter and me, each of us finding joy and expertise in different aspects of the craft. Together, we've woven countless memories into beautiful quilts, honoring the legacies of my sister and niece. Crafting with loved ones has become our way of celebrating their lives while they are still with us—a testament to the enduring power of family and creativity.
